The Chalet
Branges is a magnificent detached chalet on the opposite side of
the road from the hamlet of Le Laisinant, situated halfway between Val
d'Isere town centre and Le Fornet. It is a beautiful, restored farmhouse
extending over three floors and commands wonderful views of Val d'Isere
and the Olympic downhill run, from the huge picture window in the lounge
and dining room.
This is a most comfortable and spacious chalet with the dining room and
upstairs lounge connected by a lovely winding open staircase. There are
five bedrooms all of completely different character, from the large
master bedroom with en-suite facilities (room 4) to the quaint twin room
on the top floor with a five foot high access door.
The entrance to the chalet is remarkable - an amazing, underground, slate
stairway leading directly from the roadway up into the chalet. This has
been described by journalists and previous guests as giving a "James
Bond" feel to the chalet. Another interesting feature of the chalet is
that it boasts its own chapel adjacent to the main building.
There is easy access to the skiing and apres skiing yet there is also a
great feeling of privacy and of "being in the mountains".
The quickest way to start the day is by using the free Train Rouge bus
service which will take you directly to the nursery slopes and main lifts
of Solaise/Bellvarde in approx. 5 mins., or in the other direction 3 mins.
to the cable at Le Fornet.
The bus stop is situated about 250m from the chalet, although last
season most bus drivers were happy to stop directly outside the chalet
itself. It is also possible, snow conditions permitting, to leave the
chalet on skis on the gently inclined cross country track and skate to
the nursery slopes, a journey of approx. 10 mins.
At the end of the day it is possible to ski down the blue 'L' piste or
the red 'Mattis' run to within 300 m of the chalet.
The Beds
Chalet Branges sleeps 10 with 4 bathrooms and 3 ensuite
Entrance hall with ski lockers.

Kitchen, dining room, separate w.c.
Staff bedroom.
Bedroom 1 : Double with bathroom & w.c.
Bedroom 2 : Two single built in beds.
Bedroom 3 : Two single built in beds.
Bedrooms 2 & 3 share a shower room & separate w.c.
First Floor:
Large lounge with open fire.
Separate w.c.
Bedroom 4: Large twin bedroom with bathroom & w.c
Separate w.c.
Second Floor:
Bedroom 5 : Twin bedroom with bathroom (separate w.c. on first floor)
NB:
Bedroom 5 has low access (5'6").
Staircase leading to second floor is open.
This chalet is not suitable for young children.
The Food
Breakfast is provided every morning and consists of tea, coffee, fruit
juice, porridge, muesli, cereal, yoghurts, various combinations of: eggs,
bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, etc., plus bread, jam and
honey.
Afternoon tea is prepared and left out for you to help yourself after
your skiing or snowboarding, and consists of tea, coffee, hot chocolate,
bread, jams, etc., plus homemade cake or biscuits or scones.
Dinner, normally served around eight o'clock, is a superb three course
meal plus cheese accompanied by good quality red and white wine with
coffee and tea to finish.
