Lying just to the east of les Arcs at the start of the Isere
Valley in Savoie, Ste Foy (pronounced Sant Fwa) has some of the best off
piste skiing in the French Alps. The adjectives to describe it are simple
and accurate - small, quiet, unspoilt and traditional. It is a family
oriented resort with plenty of scope for beginners and children.
The off piste is so good that the locals will come over from
les Arcs,
Val d'Isere
and Tignes to experience it
on their day off. It is also a very popular family ski resort. Some say
St Foy is the best kept secret in the Alps. Who knows....?
The French Railways ski train from Waterloo (UK) runs Friday nights to
Bourg St Maurice arriving around 0830 on the Saturday morning, leaving a
15 minute drive to Ste Foy. With the return train leaving on Saturday
evenings this gives a full seven days skiing in all les Arcs and Isere
Valley ski resorts for one week skiers.
