*The cable car is out of action this season - the lift pass
covers la Plagne but the bus takes an hour.
The ski resort of les Arcs is situated on the road up to the Italian border and
the Petit St Bernard Pass. Although the three central purpose built
resorts of les Arcs (1600,1800 and 2000) are not the most attractive to
look at, the area does have some of the best all round skiing in the
world.
There are smaller traditional satellite villages included in the
lift pass that rely as much on skiing as they do farming with the tiny
resorts of Peisey Nancroix, Ste Foy and Villaroger being among them.
There is also direct access from the the buzzing little valley town of
Bourg st Maurice on the main railway line.

The village of
Peisey Nancroix is ideally placed to access Les Arcs and *the cable car link to
la Plagne connects with the
vast new domain of Paradiski - and all on the same lift pass.Peisey is a working village and has still retained it’s relaxed
atmosphere. It’s a great place to base your skiing holiday and unwind
at the same time.
There are a couple of bars and restaurants, ski hire shop,
and a small supermarket. |
Les Arcs and the Paradiski domain is surrounded by many other great areas
including Val d'Isere and the Three Valleys which can be reached easily
for a day's skiing. Les Arcs is also the home of the fastest speed skiing
course in the world where the present world record is 154mph....
The French Railways ski train from Waterloo (UK) runs Friday nights to
Moutiers arriving around 0830 on the Saturday morning, leaving a 20
minute drive to les Arcs. With the return train leaving on Saturday
evenings this gives a full seven days skiing for one week skiers.
